چکیده
Aim: To report the unusual SD-OCT findings in peripapillary subretinal space of blunt traumatic optic neuropathy (TON). Methods: All patients underwent a comprehensive eye examination included color fundus photography, ultrasonography, fluorescein angiography, visual field, PVEP if patient’s vision was allowed to examine. An orbital CT scan performed for all and no fracture found. However, we did not assess them here assessed results only. Results: Peripapillary spaces four contused eyes were abnormal that showed flat, localized hyperreflection due hemorrhages. It adjacent disc. The intensities reflection could be nonuniform blood concentration or contained serous liquid. observed RPE/Bruch’s membrane complex micro-rips, but ELM normal involved space. Choroid rupture macula at times. Conclusion: For TON patients, examine by first time might have valuable diagnosis. suggested hemorrhages come from choriocapillaris.

Persistent profound visual loss following contusion of the globe or ocular adnexae has been well documented, the visual loss being attributed to haemorrhage into, or contusion of, the optic nerve, or to interference with the blood supply of the eye. The patient described below presented after a contusion of the eye and orbit, with the clinical picture of ischaemic optic neuropathy presumably re...

Indirect traumatic optic neuropathy (ITON) refers to optic nerve injury resulting from impact remote to the optic nerve. The mechanism of injury is not understood, and there are no confirmed protocols for prevention, mitigation or treatment. Most data concerning this condition comes from case series of civilian patients suffering blunt injury, such as from sports- or motor vehicle-related concu...

Introduction: Traumatic optic nerve damage after craniofacial injury was first described by Hippocrates.1 Although the natural history of traumatic optic neuropathy is unknown, recent studies suggest that high dose steroids and, even surgical decompression of the optic canal or the nerve sheath (in cases of nerve sheath hematoma) may restore vision in selected patients.2-8 The commonest cause o...

A 15yearold boy suffered from blunt trauma to the left eyebrow (Figure 1A arrow). Three hours after the trauma, he had a visual acuity (VA) of no light perception (NLP) in the left eye. Relative afferent pupillary defect was positive in the left eye. The intraocular pressure of each eye was 15 mm Hg. Anterior segment examination results were unremarkable. Funduscopic examination results were no...
